Post-War
Era
As America celebrated victory
in World War II, Bunton's Seed returned to normal
operations in 1946.
Winfrey P. Bunton Jr., son of
founder W.P. Bunton, had been in the thick of
fighting in Europe with a front-line Army artillery
unit. He returned to Louisville and joined the
company. Another second-generation Bunton, Herbert
F., worked as company vice president.
And in the 1946 catalog, the
company announced it was keeping pace with the
latest developments in seed research:
Improved strains and new
introductions of vegetable seeds in recent years
along with the Garden Tools and Accessories, make
it possible to increase your yield from the same
size garden plot.
Bunton's Seeds are grown
by specialists in each particular item. Being on
the alert for better varieties and working closely
with the grower has enabled us to be leaders in
bringing to this section the new and profitably
grown vegetables and flowers. ...
